About me
Hi, I'm Annaleen Chetty. South African Tamil Indian woman, spiritual coach, hypnotherapist, and founder of Aveshri.
This is my story —
- from SA 🇿🇦 to USA 🇺🇸
- from heartbreak 💔 to healing 🥰
Roots
I was born in Durban, South Africa and grew up living in my grandparents' basement, with my parents and sister.
We didn't have much, but we had nature, animals, and love.
I've also been gifted since a young age, though never imagined channeling that into a career (much later).
Loss and responsibility
When I was 16, my father passed away suddenly, but — for me — not unexpectedly.
His departure pushed me into the role of leader and provider for my family.
Marriage and culture
Later, at age 22, I entered my first marriage.
Astrology and other spiritual signs had warned me not to go forward.
Unfortunately, I still did.
Difficult choices
That marriage was not meant to last.
I suffered through infidelity and domestic abuse, though eventually did leave.
Rebuilding myself, I enrolled in health care and skin care training, with an overall goal of working at sea.
Cruise life
My hard work paid off in 2019. Life changed as I began working on cruise ships, as an aesthetician and "spa girl".
It was hard, with 12-hour work days and being so far from home for months at a time.
But it was also freeing.
I was able to support my family and discover the world, one port at a time.
Love finds me
In late 2021, something unexpected happened, when I met a spa guest who would become my future husband.
We emailed. We called. We visited.
One year later, I moved to the United States and we got married.
Aveshri
With my loving husband's support, I began formal study of hypnotherapy under Grace Smith, with over 250 hours' practice in 2023 alone.
That year I joined the International Association of Counselors and Therapists (IACT) and launched my soul-led business Aveshri, as a newly certified practitioner.
This allowed me to combine grifts from throughout my life's journey — Reiki, dream interpretation, spiritual coaching, hypnosis — to help others realize their potential, and to heal.
This is my true path. It lights me up to help others —
- through messy relationships
- through soul-awakenings
- through those "weird" transition phases where nothing seems to make sense but everything’s changing
I am blessed to watch clients step into their power, find peace, and become the best versions of themselves.
My life now
Today I continue to reside in the U.S. (sunny South Florida) with a growing family, but still honor my South African Indian heritage every day.
There's more to my daily balancing act too — as a wife, healer, coach, businesswoman, sometimes-YouTuber, and so on.
I never imagined becoming these things, but am living proof that you can create the life your soul desires. Even through devastating loss, hardships, and detours.
My own path wasn’t exactly traditional (especially growing up in a typical Indian household). I was the "bad" girl, the one who didn’t follow the script. But it has all clarified for me that other people’s opinions don’t define us. Only the divine has authority to judge.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope something resonates with you. Follow along with my journey here, and across the Internet.
